William Porro
William Porro is the Special Projects Administrator for the City of Miami. He serves in this capacity to coordinate the resources of the City Manager's Office of Economic Initiatives in conjunction with the Mayor's strategy to reduce poverty. In 2005, he helped create and launch ACCESS Miami, the second phase of the Mayor's original anti-poverty plan. More specifically, William strives to create linkages through such projects as tax preparation, Earned Income Tax Credit campaigns, Individual Development Accounts, micro-lending, banking, financial literacy and homeownership in order to produce a "continuum of care" for the City's residents and small business entrepreneurs. William's other responsibilities includes workforce development and positioning the City of Miami favorably when attracting new funding sources through collaborative efforts.
William's career in the financial services industry spans more than 20 years, including positions of high level responsibility in both international and domestic financial services and marketing for such Fortune 500 Companies as American Express Financial Advisors, Citibank and CIGNA. William was instrumental in first launching PC Banking, financial service phone cards, and bilingual direct response marketing into Puerto Rico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. His community service background includes starting a nonprofit organization called the World Mission of Jesus Christ in Miami, Fl which serves the Haitian American Community and included a food pantry, and assisting with children's educational programs. William was also recognized by the Mayor of Miami-Dade County, Fl as owner and administrator of a Joint Commissioned Accredited behavioral healthcare center that served over 200 patients per month in one of the City of Miami's poorest Hispanic neighborhoods. A Financial Advisor by trade, William holds both Series 7 and 66 licenses, which register him with the National Association of Security Dealers. He holds a State license in life, health and variable annuities, is licensed as a mortgage broker and earned a degree in finance from the University of Texas. William has been a Miami resident for over 30 years.
