Bernie Diaz


The Rev. Bernie Diaz is a dynamic and articulate communicator and motivator who has been a successful voice in both the profit and non-profit fields of business, media, public relations and ministry for more than two decades in South Florida.  Bernie has been a disciple of Jesus Christ since 1993, and is currently a pastor, preacher and Bible teacher at New Testament Baptist Church.
He is most passionate about God’s Word and teaching it, and has been an Old Testament Instructor with Walk Thru The Bible, the internationally renowned teaching ministry since 2001 and a church consultant and speaker for the missions ministry of Global Focus International, as well as several area churches.

From 1999 through 2004, Bernie Diaz was the Director of Communications for the Miami Coalition For a Safe and Drug-Free Community.  The Miami Coalition, is a non-profit organization recognized and respected as a national and international leader in the fight against substance abuse and related issues for over a decade.  Bernie was the spokesman and media liaison for the Coalition, coordinating their press, marketing and public relations, and served as the State Alliance Program Manager for the Partnership For a Drug-Free America during that time.

Bernie also produced and hosted UPN-TV’s award-winning public affairs talk-show Focus On South Florida, from 1992 through 2003.  Aside from his work on that issues-oriented program, Bernie coordinated the community-affairs public service programs of television station WBFS in Miami-Ft. Lauderdale, as Public Affairs Director from 1992 to 1999.  During that tenure, Bernie also served as Sports Reporter and on-air Anchor for Miami Dolphins, Florida Marlins and Miami Heat telecasts on UPN-TV.  Additionally, he served as an on-air free-lance personality by appearing frequently as a local radio talk-show host and as a play-by-play announcer and color analyst on local cable television for University of Miami woman’s basketball, high school basketball, tennis, and arena football.

Prior to joining UPN, Bernie Diaz began his broadcasting career at Miami’s WXDJ-FM radio in 1989, reporting sports and news in morning drive.  One year later, he became Sports Director at WTMI-FM radio, where he created, produced and hosted the morning drive Scorecard program, as well as serving as an advertising account executive.

Bernie Diaz is currently finishing a Th.G in Theology from Liberty University and studied broadcasting and communications at Miami-Dade College.  He is a native of New York City, who has resided in South Florida since 1970.  Bernie, his wife Mary and their three children: Bryana, David, and Lauren, make their home in Pembroke Pines, Broward County Florida.
